Post by OpinicusPost by cshenkOh I love Chicco!
Thanks for the reply.
Post by cshenkMy post was meant for another group.
What was the "other" group?
I must confess I have an ulterior motive for trying to revive RPDB.
Chicco has severe separation anxiety issues, owing I'm guessing to his
having been abandoned by his previous owners. I mean SEVERE: he
literally will not have me out of his sight. This is a first for me
and I don't know how to deal with it. None of my previous dogs behaved
this way but I raised all of them from pups. Chicco's at least one
year old but definitely not two. None of the advice I see on the
internet seems to be working.
I came here cuz I saw your post in RFC ... it may be that Chicco is
still a little insecure about abandonment issues , and it will just take
time for him to feel secure . After all you've only had him for a couple
of months , trauma takes time to overcome - you might try going outside
for a couple of minutes then coming back in , slowly extending the time
to show him that you'll always come back . Our Max goes nuts when he
thinks I'm going somewhere without him , but that's mostly because he
loves to ride in the car , plus Mountain Curs are often very attached to
one person . Lucky me ! Best of luck with gaining Chicco's trust and
helping him overcome his fears !

The only place we can leave our Poppy on her own, is in the car when we
are shopping. Apart from that, she sticks to us like glue.
We are both retired but it must be bad for someone who has to go out to
work
She was a rescue and she is absolutely attached to us. She had a
dreadful start. She was found in a house with 42 dogs and 2 cats. The
woman who owned them had died. The RSPCA broke in. Many were dead and the
others were in dreadful condition. She'd had puppies but they must have
been eaten since none were there. She was so thin and with very little hair
on her back. She was lucky to have survived.
I think we have overdone the care now because she needs to go on a diet lol
She hates to be away from us, and when we are shopping, she sits up in
front staring at the spot she last saw us to make sure we are coming back:))
She is worth every minute:)
